Abigail's Medical Bills

On the morning of October 31st, our sister Abigail was shot in the face by her neighbor.  There was a 2 hour long police pursuit and the suspect, John Kendall, subsequently took his own life.

Abigail, however, will have to live with the wounds he caused her for the rest of her life.  She underwent facial reconstructive surgery today (October 31st) and her and her husband, Erich, will need all the help they can get for medical bills.

Please help out our sister. She has a long road of recovery ahead of her and we want financial worries to be the least of her concern. Abigail is a loving wife, daughter, sister and auntie. She did not deserve this!

Our family wants to thank everyone for their support in this difficult time.

Abigail has finally gotten her ocular prosthesis. A big thank you to all who donated to her campaign. She still has medical bills to pay in addition to paying for water damage repairs from a water pipe bursting on January 26th. We appreciate any help and every little bit goes a long way.

Update: Abigail was released from the hospital tonight! She still has a long road of recovery ahead of her and she will be off work for awhile. But we are so thankful that this day has come.

Please continue to pray/have positive thoughts for Abigail. She had a seizure last night, but we are hoping that won't be repeated. Her eye is going to need to be removed here soon and she will be getting a prosthetic eye.

Our family can't thank everyone enough for all the support. Here's to good thoughts for Abigail and Erich this week while they rest. Abigail is reading her Facebook messages if you want to send her your well wishes.

Update: Abigail was moved out of ICU around 7:30pm last night. That is great news since we initially thought she would be there for a few days.

She ate more soft foods today and even got up and walked around a little. Her husband brought one of their cats to visit Abigail. Sweet Pea was happy to see her mama and Abigail was happy to see her baby!

The Ophthalmologist told Abigail today that they don't think she will ever regain her eyesight in her right eye and that a prosthetic eye would be something to discuss for the future.

Thanks from the bottom of our hearts for all of your prayers and support for Abigail.

Update: Abigail was in a medically induced coma yesterday. Her surgery went well. They reconstructed her right cheek, they repaired her eye (it was split into two) and they stitched up the side of her right ear. There are tiny bullet fragments that are in her brain as well as deep in her neck by the carotid artery that doctors are unable to remove because it is too dangerous.

They took her off sedation today and she is awake and talking. She remembers everything. She is unable to see out of her right eye and doctors are uncertain whether or not she will ever be able to see out of that eye again. She was having problems hearing out of her right ear, but doctors believe that will get better over time. She will need to be on anti-seizure medication for the rest of her life due to the bullet fragments in her brain.

She is still in ICU and will be for a few more days. But she was able to drink some water and have a little bit of apple sauce, so that's good! We are so thankful for all the wonderful doctors and nurses and any other hospital staff who have taken care of our sister and shown our family such kindness and compassion.

For anyone who personally knows Abigail, she most certainly has the same humor she had before. Thanks again everyone for all your support.
