AU's Philippine Culture Night

$500 of $500 goal

Raised by 19 people in 46 months
American University's Philippine American Coalition is hosting their second ever Culture Night on April 18th.

Written by AU senior, Clarence Cabanero, "Bayan Ko" explores the religious and political tensions in Mindanao, the southern region of the Philippines. A classic love story and dramatic retelling of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front movement, our upcoming Culture Night will speak to a tumultuous period in Filipino history.

Featuring traditional Filipino dances by and solo musical performances by Ms. Tolentino, Ms. Divinagracia, Ms.Teston and Mr. Camarungan, this unique student production showcases American University's diverse talents. Additionally, a portion of our profits will be sent to Books for the Barrios, a non-profit organization that helps to build libraries in impoverished areas of the Philippines.

However, to deliver a truly traditional Filipino experience,  we want to give each audience member a taste of Philippines' most delicious dishes.

With a catering cost of $500 and limited funding from American University's Club Council, our organization must find its own funding to round out our Culture Night event.

Those who donate will receive email updates of our production's progress as well as recognition on our playbill.

Any amount is greatly appreciated and will go directly to supporting the Philippine American Coalition's "Bayan Ko", fostering DC's vibrant Southeast Asian community and enriching the lives of impoverished Filipino children.

Thank you so much for your time and consideration!
