Shutdown relief! ATL Delta Pilots supporting ATC
Donation protected
UPDATE: It appears that a short term agreement has been reached to end the government shutdown which is great news. As a result, I've decided to suspend donations after today. We'll continue with current plans to utilize existing funds however. Many thanks to all who have contributed!
As a result of the ongoing government shutdown, FAA Air Traffic Controllers are continuing to work without pay in order to keep our airspace, aircrews, and passengers safe. The Atlanta-based pilots of Delta Air Lines want to thank our local controllers at Atlanta airport, Atlanta Approach, and Atlanta Center for their continued professionalism under incredibly stressful conditions and have organized this GoFundMe site to provide assistance to them and their families until FAA funding is restored. ALL funding raised here will go to support our local ATC professionals.
ADDED TO COMPY WITH GO FUND ME REQUIREMENTS:
We work with the hundreds of Air Traffic Controllers at the 3 Atlanta facilities on a daily basis. As professional pilots, although we rarely meet in person, we rely on them every time we fly to help keep us safe. I have been in direct contact with NATCA representatives from each facility to determine the best way we can support them. They have all requested food for controllers during work shifts and all food donations have been coordinated through them. All funds for this campaign are being used to provide the controllers with lunch or dinner during their shifts at work. Withdrawals from the fund raised during this campaign are used to reimburse expenses incurred buying and delivering food. All expenses are verified by receipt. Once the shutdown has ended, donations will be closed and remaining funds will be used to provide additional meals during work shifts for the controllers until all funds are exhausted.
