Aycock Lion King Musical
Donation protected
My name is Mark Maltby. For six years it has been my privilege to teach music, character education and skills for life to nearly 200 middle school students at Aycock Middle (a TITLE ONE, high poverty, high needs school in downtown Greensboro, N.C.).
I was recently privileged to win a grant from Music Theater International for the rights to present Disney's
as well as a Donor's Choose grant to purchase wireless microphones for our young performers. My students and I have been working extremely hard on this dynamic musical for nearly six months (rehearsing after school every Wednesday, Thursday and Saturdays) in preparation for our May 24, 25 and 26 performances. Students, parents, friends and family have all pitched in by donating funds, sweat equity and talent (for example one friend is not only donating his time to help with lighting and special effects for the show but he also worked his "magic" to secure lighting instruments for FREE). So things are coming together as well as can be expected given our limited resources. And this is where you may come in.....
In order to make the final purchases (including a scouting field trip to see the Broadway Tour of the Lion King in Richmond, Va. for our cast and dancers as well as for lumber for sets, materials for costumes and props, paint for sets, make up) for our doubled cast of 21, chorus of 70 and dance team of 13, we are in need of $1,610 by May 1st.
Every day I try to model professionalism in the work place to my students and nothing would mean more to them and to me than to be able to present this musical as professionally as possible.
For a minimum donation of $20.00, you will receive TWO complimentary tickets. Just go to the WILL CALL table and give them your name. You'll receive a hand stamp for the 7 PM show of your choice (either Tuesday-May 24th or Wednesday - May 25th or Thursday - May 26th).
We are most grateful for your consideration.
