Kevin Harrington's Cancer Fight

28 short years ago,  Kevin Harrington was born to our best friends... Keith and Vicki Harrington. Kevin and his sister Krystle joined our kids, Matt and Jessie when he was 2 years old, so we've known him for 26 years. While he was once a scrawny little boy, the shortest of the four friends and definitely the skinniest, he is now a handsome 6'7" drink of water. While Kevin is kind, gentle, and the purest of souls, he has always been a little accident prone; always taking chances and pushing the envelope a little more each time. During the early years, we coached him on our soccer teams, the "Battle Toads" and "Team USA". We all followed his career in high school as the star quarterback on the football team, as well as an outstanding baseball player. His competitive spirit is immeasurable and contagious to everyone around him. He has always been an amazing athlete and will forever be our second son. Kevin was drafted out of high school by the Minnesota Twins, and his career was on it's way until an unfortunate accident occured that altered his vision. It may have ended his professional baseball career, but it did not stop his zest for life! He overcame that adversity only to be thrown another curve ball - he was recently diagnosed with cancer.

The surgery to remove the primary tumor was successful, but additional areas were detected that will require additional treatment and chemotherapy. At 28 years old, he exhibits strength, perserverance and a competitive spirit that inspire all who know him.

We know the fighter in Kevin will be present for this next challenge; we have seen it time and time again in his life. Kevin desperately needs the help of family and friends with financial assistance as he fights through this next hurdle. It will be necessary for him to take a leave of absence from his job for the initial 3 month treatment period. He is a great kid who deserves to live a long and healthy life, and has so much to offer the world. He needs his family and friends by his side as he fights for his life. Kevin could always be counted on to score the touchdown to win the game, or gun the runner tagging from 3rd in the bottom of the ninth... so we know he can overcome his battle with cancer.
