On Wednesday February 17th, 2016 Ben was involved in an explosion while working in Freedom, WI. As a result of the explosion Ben suffered major burns to h is arms and legs. Ben was take to Theda Clark Hospital in Neenah, WI and later transported to Milwaukee, where is is being treated in the burn center, with wife, Alissa, by his side.

The Williams family has a long, unknown road ahead of them.  The good news is Ben will recover.  In order for Ben to get the medical treatment he will need, there will be many bills, miles, and expenses incurred. Due to this, we, as people who care for Ben, Alissa, and their son, are asking for any help that you may be able to give.

Thank you for all of your support.

A little over a week ago Ben attended his first weekly checkup, and below is the update from Alissa:

"Ben and I traveled back down to St. Mary's this past Thursday 3/3/16. He had his bandages removed, his burns checked over, and then rewrapped. Both legs were again dressed in the mepilex (a week long dressing) but his hands have healed up enough to be changed/dressed daily. The three areas of concern are still being watched and skin graft/surgery will be reevaluated next Friday - the ultimate goal being, with another week in the mepilex dressings they may all be able to heal on their own.
We are forever thankful for your kind words and unending generosities. Ben and I have years to "pay it forward", together, and there is no greater feeling."

Since then, Ben had the appointment for his skin graft last Friday and skin graft surgery will be needed and will be scheduled for this week or next. The good news being that after surgery, which should only be an overnight hospital stay, and a few more weeks of healing Ben should be recovered and ready to enjoy some much needed time outside! Until then Ben will be able to spend his days at home – he really enjoys the calls and check ins so keep them coming. I’m sure it helps pass the time.

Thank you all!

As of last Friday, February 26th, Ben has been sent home! Here is a message that Ben posted on Facebook on Thursday:

"I finally got some good news and will be heading home tomorrow afternoon! Today they changed the dressings on both my hands and legs to see the progress. They were very happy with how everything looked and my face is almost completely healed. I will be coming back down here weekly to have the mepilex dressings replaced and Alissa will be doing daily dressing changes to the areas that have started to heal. I can't thank you all enough for the support and donations over the last week. The kindness and generosity has helped me through this more than you can imagine."

Again, thank you all so much for your support to the Williams! I'm sure that Ben is happy to be in his own home surrounded by his family while he continues the road to recovery.

Thank you!!
Homeward bound!

First of all I would just like to thank everyone for their generosity and support for the Williams family over the past few days. They are very fortunate to have such a loving support system around them at this difficult time. Below is a message directly from Alissa and Ben as of yesterday morning.

"Coming into day 5 - the Drs are hopeful that most of the burns will heal up on their own. There are 3 areas of concern but they will be given a week or two to heal before surgery/skin grafts are discussed. OT and PT has also begun and is going well. In the review of all the staff Ben is doing great. His burns are as expected but staying stable. Which, in being in such unknown territory, is reassuring to hear. He is taking it one day at a time and working towards coming home - maybe even mid week! Once home there will be weekly appointments with his care team in Milwaukee and we'll just keep moving forward!

Ben would love to reach out to everyone and say thank you - the amount of support has been overwhelming in the best possible way. Ben is making progress and working towards a full recovery and in his own words, hearing from all of you and being so supported, "seems more helpful than the pain medication." "

Please continue to keep them in your thoughts and prayers as they continue down the path of healing.

Thank you!
