Miracles Do Happens
Stephanie and baby Ethan were given a 1% chance of survival after sustaining life threatening injuries due to an out of control driver. She was uncomfortable driving at this point in her pregnancy and decided to ride the bus. She would not have been at this location otherwise. A combat medic and his wife were lost in that area and happened to witness the crash. He sprang into action. Unable to find a pulse, he performed CPR until EMS arrived while another man prayed over her. She flatlined in the trauma bay resulting in an emergency C-section ultimately saving the baby's life. Stephanie's heart was literally in the surgeon's hand. While he repaired her heart and lung, the rest of the team used emergency exploratory surgery to rule out further damage. It is a miracle that they are still with us. It will take some time to heal from her injuries and the extent of Ethan's neurological deficits are unknown as he will be on medication to control his seizures for at least 1 year. We will manage any funds raised in a trust for their medical bills and future needs. Thank you all for your generosity, prayers and well wishes. May God bless.
Stephanie Athey, my sister n law who was hit by a car at a west-side bus stop in San Antonio Texas., is in serious condition ICU while her baby is in critical condition NICU.
The baby, whose name is Ethan, was delivered via emergency surgery shortly after she was taken to the hospital following the incident that injured them.
Stephanie was nearly nine months pregnant when the baby was born.
Please pray for a fast recovery for them .
Any donation you can send will be much appreciated and they will definitely need the help. Thank you so much.
