Hi all. My name is Adrion Majette. The middle of January I celebrated my 52nd birthday with family and friends, surrounded by love and affection. Living life to the fullest, some say I am larger than life.
But a week later I was in the hospital with my life turned upside down. Out of nowhere I had become sick, needing a stent put in an artery. The doctor said my heart function was 20% where it should have been 50-55%. How could this be? I worked out, ate moderately healthy, and lived an active lifestyle. The doctor said my body health masked my heart health but it also kept it from being more severe. It is still devastating physically, emotionally, and financially.
While I have medical insurance, in this new world of increased premiums and lesser coverage, it is the bare minimum because of affordability. Besides, I was healthy! What did I need with higher coverage and higher premiums? You never think anythng bad will happen to you then, out of nowhere, your life is reset.
I am on the road to physical recovery but, unfortunately, the road to financial recovery will be a long and winding one and may end up being more devastating. The doctor initially said I will be out of work for three months (because of the work I do) with an assessment at six weeks. This time without income will be devastating. I am a proud man and I am not used to asking for help. But I have started this fund at the urging of family, friends, and co-workers.
