Lucy's debut complete short film

This November I am launching Linger Longer Films with a debut short film I have written and will be directing.

Teresa (50) and Olivia (16) are struggling to connect during Teresa’s divorce. Finding common ground between a mother and daughter can be hard, but unbeknown to these 2 they may have more in common than they realise. Looking at age, love, family and the lies we tell those we closest to us, Love lies asks if we expect more honesty and openness from our children than we give them and ponders what age we might be, if we didn’t know what age we are.

Set in and around Oxted Love lies will star the phenomenally talented local actress Ruth Redman, Matthew Winters – who you may recognise from channel 4’s Humans – Andrew McDonald, who recently appeared in Harry Potter and the Cursed Child in the West End and 2 budding young actresses playing Teresa’s 16 and 11 year old daughters.

Well we need your help.

Making a movie is an expensive business and getting funding from top investors like the BFI, BBC, FILM4 and private investors requires a demonstration of talent and ability. Having been working in theatre for 14 years I have extensive knowledge of working with actors, and telling a good story. My crew all have lots of experience in different areas of filmmaking – documentary, animation, foreign language films. What we all need is a chance to show the world what we can do together in a narrative, cinematic form.

None of us will be getting paid for our efforts but we do need equipment. Batteries, studio time for sound mixing, petrol, hard drives for footage, and so on all cost money.

Even just £1 or a fiver – dig through your couch and see what you can turn up – can help.

There’s one further reason to donate to this film. Did you know that just 5% of films made in the UK last year were directed by women? Did you know females made up just 30% of casts last year, down 1% from the 1930s? Did you know females are widely underrepresented in the film industry? For this film 80% of crew and 50% of the cast is female. Why? Because it’s 2017.
