I’m sure lots of you know of Abagail Dunham. Abby wants to go to sleep over camp! Abby is not a child she is a 22 years old a full grown woman, with the sweet disposition of a child. Abby, has had 111 brain and spine surgeries since birth and suffers severe seizure. Her journey has been hard and she has suffered many different kinds of trauma. Who knows what else life has in store for Abby.
Abby is now living in Maine and they have a wonderful camp that is set up to handle all of Abby’s needs with 24 hour care. A wonderful thing if you ask me.
The name of the camp is, Pine Tree Society for the Handicapped. I want so much to bring her a week of socializing with her peers and the happiness that making new friends can bring her. For those of you who know Abby – you know how happy this will make her.
The only issue is the camp and supplies that she needs is costly. The cost of the camp alone is $1,900. Abby is to get a grant to cover part of the camp cost, but she will still need $500 to finish paying for camp. And there is also a long list of items that she needs and it sure would be nice if Abby could get a few new things to wear to camp. After all she is a girl and doesn’t every young girl need to look her best! On top of that she will need a lot of personal supplies. I’m trying to raise $1,200 that should cover the cost of camp, some new clothes and personal supplies.
I will personally see that camp is paid in full and that Abby goes shopping for her new wardrobe. We will post pictures and show you all the difference a few dollars can make in someone life.
There are many things Abby needs including a new wheel chair, but I want to make her smile with a trip of a lifetime. Every little bit will help.
If Abby can smile, the rest of the world should smile too.
Thanks guys,
Edie Lester
PS – If any additional money is raised, this will go towards getting that wheel chair that she also needs.
