Cindy Penny(my sister) and I have taken it upon ourselves to start a GoFundMe for our beautiful Sleeping Beauty, Renee Power, her gorgeous Mum, Carmela, sister, Clarissa, twin sister Monique and partner Mubin.
After Carmela and the girls lost, their wonderful husband and father Craig, unexpectedly 22 months ago and then Craig’s mother, dear grandmother to Renee, earlier this year, tragedy has struck again.
Renee was struck down overnight with viral encephalitis on 28th March, 2 ½ months ago and remained in a coma for 4 weeks, critically on life support, not making any sign of improvement whilst her family kept a bedside vigilant day and night, praying for a miracle. Renee’s family and friends have continued to pray for her recovery, sent flowers, sent text messages of love and support, sent cards, made food, and lent shoulders to cry on.
Whilst still on a ventilator, Renee began to make tiny, tiny signs of improvement, her eyelids began to flicker ever so slightly, then small movements in her fingers and slowly her eyes began to follow.
Improvement was evident, our radiant Sleeping Beauty had not been kissed by a Prince but in fact by the miracles of everyone’s constant prayers, love, support, and the relentless care of her dear Mum, sisters and partner.
Renee had slowly woken from her deep sleep, which was fiercely inflicted by the viral encephalitis, so fierce in fact, that Renee will now face months and months of rehabilitation. Carmela has given up work to care for Renee full-time, and the cost of travel to and from her rehabilitation facility as well as the cost of medication, incidental expenses and on going unforeseen future costs will further place hardship upon Renee and her beautiful family. If we can take some of the stress off them by helping with some of these financial burdens, then let’s all dig into our pockets, big or small, it all helps.
