Jeremy's Medical Expenses

Donation protected
Family and friends of Jeremy have gotten together to create this fundraiser on the behalf of Jeremy. Jeremy was in a misfortunate accident on January 2nd, 2016. Jeremy was struck by a vehicle on a run that afternoon. This resulted in a broken pelvis, broken femur, fractured skull and brain trauma. His brain was bleeding and swelling to the point that the doctors were uncertain he would pull through.

Jeremy was in a medically induced coma through the end of January to allow his brain a chance to heal. The next major scare came when Jeremy developed blood clots in his extremities. They were able to place a basket to keep clots from traveling any further. In addition, because of the brain bleeding, doctors were unable to place him on blood thinners to counteract other clots that had formed. Jeremy was being weaned off of pentobarbital as he was becoming more stable. The doctors began putting plans in place to put a rod and screws in his leg to fix it properly. This was another success. In the meantime, the family waited in anticipation to see how Jeremy would be once he was completely off of the pentobarbital. To their delight, and to the delight of family and friends, he has made some great gains!
On February 1st, Jeremy was moved out of ICU at a local hospital and to an acute care facility nearby. There, he was able to transition away from his trach, and began to show improvement in gross motor and fine motor movement, communication, and even reading simple books. Even though these were all wonderful signs, he was in need of specialized help.

Jeremy was accepted into a rehabilitation center out of state that is a leader in research for treatment for TBI (Traumatic Brain Injury). This center is out of network and was an 8 hour ambulance ride to get there. However, he has been able to receive a routine of intense physical therapy, speech therapy and occupational therapy that is proving to be very beneficial in his continued progress. It is anticipated that Jeremy will be moving from his current location to receive outpatient rehabilitation soon.

Today the family received some great news that doctors expect him to make a full recovery as far as brain functioning is concerned! However, we know there is still a long road ahead. I ask that you rally around Jeremy and his family at this time. Let’s join them in this journey to show our love and support by helping Jeremy recover the medical costs for hospitalization and rehabilitation. Jeremy is a loving son, brother, and uncle. He comes from a beautiful family who has done so much for the community around them. The way that they are always reaching out to lend a helping hand to others is inspirational. Let’s do the same in turn.

Thank you in advance for your contribution! Please continue to keep Jeremy and his lovely family in your thoughts and prayers.
