Josh was diagnosed with stage IV pancreatic cancer on September 14, 2018. To say we are devastated is an understatement.

Josh is a proud graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Madison and after graduation, he enlisted in the United States Army. From 2004-2012 Josh served on active duty, spending much of his time in the distinguished US Army 75th Ranger Regiment. Josh sacrificed greatly to serve our country with multiple tours in Iraq and Afghanistan. Today, Josh continues to serve as a member of the Wisconsin Army National Guard.

When Josh isn't working as an IT contractor, he is a GORUCK Cadre, leading fitness-focused community-building events throughout the country.

Josh has touched the lives of many throughout that community. Josh has made great efforts over the last four years to utilize the GORUCK community to support the Wisconsin chapter of Snowdrop Foundation.
Their mission is to raise money for pediatric cancer research and to provide college scholarships to students who have beaten cancer or who are still fighting. Josh has organized an annual GORUCK event in Appleton, WI, with all proceeds benefiting Snowdrop. This year alone the event raised over $21,000.

This brave, stoic, yet fun-loving father of two young boys, now needs our help. As you can imagine, the medical bills are starting to come in and as Josh is currently a contract worker, his income may become unstable during his arduous treatment.

Please help us raise money for this Ranger, father, son, brother, and GORUCK Cadre. We have the opportunity to help ease some of the stress that comes with difficult treatment and the bills that go along with them.

Never out of the fight. Rangers Lead The Way!

When I started Josh’s GOFUNDME campaign 20 days ago, my goal was to try and raise $20,000 to help him. You all have helped us raise over $67,000. I’m totally blown away! Because of your help, we’ve raised our goal to $100,000. Please continue to share his campaign. It has given him so much relief to know that if he is unable to work, he can still pay his bills.

Josh is starting his 2nd round of chemo today. He is at an infusion center for 6 hours today, and then he goes home and continues to have the chemo drugs infusing for 42 more hours. A total of 48 HOURS! of this medication being pumped into his body. It kicks his butt, but he’s a fighter. Thanks for everyone’s support, kind words, prayers, positive thoughts, and overall good vibes towards Josh and his family. We you all.

Hi Everyone:

Wow! Thank you all for your support. We are so thankful to everyone that has contributed to this campaign. $58,000 and counting is incredible!!!

I wanted to provide an update regarding one of the communities that Josh is involved in. GORUCK is a US-based, Veteran-owned, manufacturer of apparel and durable goods. GORUCK also runs fitness based events that build physical and mental toughness. Josh is an instructor for these events. The GORUCK community is vast, with participants numbering in the tens of thousands.

GORUCK has generously committed to supporting Josh in a couple of ways. First, GORUCK is selling a Cadre Roony (Josh) T-shirt, pre-order is available now. Additionally, there will be a WOD (Workout of the Day for you non-Crossfitters) that Josh programmed that you can register for and earn a special Cadre Roony patch. Proceeds from the T-shirt and the WOD will both go directly to supporting Josh.

I'd like to thank GORUCK for all of their support and hope that you will consider picking up a T-shirt, or if you're brave, signing-up to the do the workout!

Here’s an update from Josh :

I am totally and completely speechless, and we all know how that’s basically an impossible occurrence!

My family and I thank you all from the bottom of our hearts. We are truly humbled and grateful for everyone that has donated, visited, called, texted, reached out, offered help, etc.

I’ve had this discussion with a couple of people, but every day I feel like I’m wrapped in another layer of hugs and encouragement. It’s remarkable, and there is no denying God’s hand in this feeling. It’s empowering and uplifting.

I promise each and every one of you that you will get the best I can give each and every day, 100% and then some. I don’t know any other way other than to punch this thing in the throat and then trample it into the ground. Good ol’ German stubbornness I guess!

I’ve started writing my motivational speeches and will let you all know when and where I’m gonna deliver my first one when this thing is behind me. I may sprinkle a joke or two in there if I can come up with any. Open to suggestions and taking applications for ghost writers. Slide into my DMs.

Sorry for the ramble, I’m just feeling good and high on life at the moment. Have a great day and Go Brewers!
