Hello! Thank you for visiting our Go Fund Me page. We are raising money to help buy books for the Church of the Resurrection Bookmobile. The Bookmobile is a moving library that bring books to KC metro schools and lets the students pick out a book that's just right for them.
We are members of St. Teresa's Academy Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA). For our community service project this year we wanted to help all kids get the opportunity to learn to read and love to read. So, we teamed up with Church of the Resurrection and are working to supply their Bookmobile with over 2,000 books!
FBLA is a nationwide, high school organization that helps students to prepare for their future in business. They do this through academic competitions, leadership development, and educational programs. Students can compete in a variety of competitions ranging from test's about marketing to creating a website for a startup business.
We looked at the literacy rate in inner-city schools and felt that the rate was reflected on the student’s ability to get books to read. This sparked our interest in solving this problem. This lead us to our final project, a book drive. We will be collecting books in local grade schools and at our high school.
All funds raised through our GoFund me page will be used to buy books for the Bookmobile. We will use the money wisely and will be buying through book companies when they have sales to get the most out of our funds.
