Jim Swift - Art with Vision

I'm writing to acknowledge my husband Jim's diagnosis of Alzheimer's and to ask for help to pay for naturopathic care. Like any major diagnosis, this news was a shock -  with  feelings of fear, denial, anger, hope, love and grace. When you think things may get a bit better at this stage in life, it's hard to make sense of a diagnosis like this . Jim has always been so healthy, with no family history of dementia (father died at 90 and mother A&W at 95).

Jim is starting treatment consistent with the work of Dr. Marty Hinz and Dr. Alvin Stein, two medical doctors in the States who've shown results with Parkinson's Disease and dementias by helping the body to create new neurotransmitters in the brain (especially dopamine). Our local naturopath is working with these doctors.  http://amino-acid-therapy.com/proper-neurotransmitter-production/

As an artist and carpenter, Jim has created beauty in his paintings and quality in his building.  He taught carpentry at a local college and still 10 years later sees students who tell him how much they appreciate how he taught -  his fairness, patience, expertise and ability to teach adults of many and varied backgrounds.   Jim's art has moved people to tears. It seems that his (mostly abstract) paintings  have not gotten the  exposure this kind of art requires, living in a small city as we do. He was invited to the Agora Gallery in New York City last year which was a grand highlight but we did not  attend. We hope he'll continue to paint and to build as the creative, life-loving man he is.

So, we're asking for help for expert treatment that may help limit the accumulating damage that makes Alzheimer's what it is, through naturopathic  protocols (and allopathic where needed).  I always said if I won a million dollars, I'd donate most of it and  I still feel that way - after covering Jim's medical costs.  Thank you to all Jim's friends who are keeping in touch and to all who are reading this and who may help.  If you're interested in art, here's Jim's website: jimswiftart.com
