Switch's Vet Bill Fund
Greetings! I'm Adri, and the sweet little ball of fluff pictured with me is my cat, Switch (yes, like that one character from the first Matrix movie--you know, the one who wore all white? ).
Switch and I have been through a lot together in the 7 years that I've owned her, including several out-of-state moves. She was a rescue, abandoned by her previous owners, and it wasn't long after taking her in that my mom and I discovered that she was deaf. We've done our best to accommodate for her needs and to make sure she's healthy and happy.
Two weeks ago, we had to admit Switch to the local veterinary hospital, where she was diagnosed with near renal failure. She was in the hospital for three days, on an IV drip and warmer, before being brought back home. While we're immensely grateful to the Bloomington Veterinary Hospital for their amazing kindness and care, the price has set us back quite a bit financially.
My mother and I both work part-time, with a somewhat sufficient income (enough to cover the basics), but the combined cost of the bills have, so far, equaled close to $2000, including hospital stay, tests, medication, and specialty food. And, unfortunately, our veterinary insurance has been dragging its heels about whether or not some of those costs will even be covered by their policy, meaning most of bills have been paid out-of-pocket (with a bit of help from family members).
I set up a GoFundMe account in the hopes of assuaging some of the financial strain this has caused. Part of the money will be spent to pay back family, while the rest will go towards making sure my mom and I still have some stability during the holidays (and any other subsequent veterinary bills that may arise in the next week or so). Switch has been getting better, slowly but surely, and we hope that by next month (with a little help and a lot of TLC) she'll be back to her sweet, goofy self. :)
