Cuddle Cot- Nevan Lyew-Sang

£2,245 of £2,000 goal

Raised by 92 people in 21 months
I am raising funds for our local hospital in memory of my nephew Nevan who was born sleeping and also for parents who have lost their babies far too soon.

My sister (Semayah) and her husband (Len) tragically lost their son Nevan. He was delivered by an emergency caesarean section on 2nd September 2017 and was stillborn.

During this difficult time the midwives put Nevan in a Cuddle Cot which allowed them to spend six precious days with him whilst she recovered. This enabled them to hold and cuddle him, sing to him, take pictures and tell him how much he is loved.  All these precious moments she and her husband will carry in their hearts forever.

My sister and her husband state that this was only made possible because of the Cuddle Cot.

The Cuddle Cot is an amazing piece of technology that is compassionate in its very nature. The system consists of a cooling pad which is placed in a cot and attached to a insulated hose. This is connected to the cooling system.

It allowed Nevan to remain cool and stay in the room for them to bond. This also in turn allowed family and friends to meet him and to say their goodbyes.

What the Cuddle Cot allowed in that short period of time would definitely benefit another family in their time of loss. The time spent with Nevan was indescribable. It allowed my sister and her family to reflect on their tragedy and has driven them to try and ease another families heartache and pain.

Despite Nevan’s still birth, we have great comfort knowing that his short time on earth could impact families in a positive way.

With your help I hope we can make a difference to other families by providing them with precious memories of their babies.

Hello All, I would like to give you a final update about this campaign we started, after the tragic loss of Nevan. I am pleased to announce that Semayah purchased and presented the Cuddle Cot to Croydon University Hospital last month. She was invited to do a talk to the midwives, as part of their Continuous Professional Developing (CPD). They warmly received the donated Cuddle Cot, and was touched by her courage of sharing her story and experience.

This was made possible through the generosity of your kind-hearted donations- THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!

The article published about the presentation of the cuddle cot is featured online:

Her article is also featured in this week’s Croydon advertiser (today is the last day to purchase a copy). A picture is also attached.

This page will soon be closed down, but Semayah will still be campaigning and raising the awareness of still births. All of this is no doubt helping her though her grieving process, and your support is always welcomed and appreciated.

God Bless you all, and thank you again X

Hello, and thank you so much again for your generosity and amazing support during what has been a difficult time for Semayah and Len.

Semayah was recognised as an 'absolute inspiration' in a Croydon Advertiser article recently. Please check out the article from the link below:

Semayah has also been invited to attend a staff training day for the midwives at Croydon University Hospital next month, to talk to them as a bereaved mum to support their professional development.

She is grateful for the opportunity to continue to support and raise awareness of still births, and support the midwives who helped her.

Lastly, this money raised, along with the offline donations has contributed to such a magnificent cause. Len and Semayah plan to present the Cuddle Cot to Croydon University Hospital when she does the talk to the midwives.

I will again update once this has taken place. It is also likely to be reported online again and in the newspaper.

Semayah has been in contact with the Croydon Advertiser newspaper. They have published her inspiring story online. Please check it out:

Croydon Advertiser are also printing her story in the newspaper soon- when she hands the Cuddle Cot to Croydon University Hospital.

I will update you again when that takes place. Thank you again for all your generosity and support towards raising awareness and this campaign.

Another MASSIVE THANK YOU to you All for your generous donations to this cause and most importantly it’s all in memory of NEVAN.

Semayah & Len continue be so overwhelmed by the love and support of everyone, and can’t thank you all enough.  Nevan will never be forgotten, and he is resting peacefully on top of his grandma (new picture attached), and in the safe arms of the Lord.

By God’s grace we achieved the goal in such a short space of time.  We also have chosen a charity to donate any additional donations raised: Stillbirth & Neonatal Death Society (SANDS).

We are already in contact with the manufacturers to order the Cuddle Cot, and will update you again when it is handed over to the hospital.

But Jesus called them to him, saying, “Let the children come to me, and do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of God”.
