89 Year-Old Vet's Home Destroyed by Hit & Run

My name is Tina Standlee, and I am creating this GoFundMe for my 89-year-old father who’s house has been destroyed late December 7th, 2018 at 11:30 PM. A pickup truck lost control off of 31st Street in East Tulsa, going through the backyard privacy fence, through the back doors and destroying the dining room, kitchen, my childhood bedroom, and roof. The impact sounded like a bomb and neighbors immediately called checking in to ensure the safety of my family.
The driver abandoned their truck in the house and ran. The authorities have yet to discover who was driving the vehicle, or even if there was a passenger. After police entered the scene, my parents were ordered to not go back into the house. They were unable to retrieve items or even examine the damages that had happened that night.
Luckily, everyone is healthy and has survived this tragedy. However, it has left my parents lives in disarray. Debris is everywhere, furniture destroyed, and my dad’s companion animal is in temporary housing due to the fact my father has yet to find housing and has been made homeless due to this tragedy. With all of the stress of being completely uprooted, the stress of dealing with the sluggish insurance company, the stress of searching for temporary housing, and being without his companion, this is causing a financial hardship. Especially during the holidays and Christmas is just days away.
I am hoping that I can help make a difference for my family through this GoFundMe and help them get their lives back in order while they wait for insurance to clear and rebuilding to begin/finish. My father is a veteran of World War II and Korean Conflict and has been made homeless by this hit and run driver. All I want for him is to have some financial stability to help get him back with his companion animal and into a new dwelling. And most of all, I hope that this helps him have a good holiday.
I am asking for funding of a minimum of $5,000; this is to help support rent/out of pocket expenses for temporary housing for at least six months, the cost of boarding his companion animal, groceries, the possibility of needing a private appraiser, and some cleaning and maintenance that need to go into the house. Anything above and beyond will help assist in moving expenses to help my father relocate to a safer neighborhood.
