Velez was taken from this world too soon, as a result of injuries she sustained in a motor vehicle accident Sunday evening that involved Alayna and her mother. Her mother, Ruth is currently still in the hospital recovering from her injuries.  

Anyone who knows the Velez family knows how strong, caring, and loving each one of them is. Ruth is the most selfless, genuine woman, who loves her family unconditionally. 

Alayna was a loving daughter, dedicated sister, and an amazing friend to everyone she knew. Her smile could light up a room and her laughter was contagious. We may never understand God's plan or why something so terrible could happen to such a wonderful family, but we can find comfort in knowing that Alayna is flying high with her father.
