PILOT for "eighty-six"

Donation protected
Imagine, 10 years in the future, that the United States collapses into a new civil war. Where pockets of the country are under martial law, others become the wild west, some are unaffected, and the country is in a disastrous tailspin.

(a mock up of the flag used by the Free State)

'eighty-six' takes place in the near future set during a modern-day American civil war. A high stakes drama that explores what happens if the politics of today stay on their current path until people become willing to fight and die for their beliefs.

We want to use this great story to make positive changes in the entertainment world.

The episodes, while entertaining and dramatic will also be used to answer the hard questions of what it means to be a person in America. What does it mean to hold particular political, sexual, religious, or societal views?

We want to do this with a cast of characters that forces the audience to answer their own questions as well. We want to cast these characters in a way that gives great actors from different backgrounds opportunities they don't usually receive. For example, in this pilot, there will be trans actors in cis roles without making it about being trans (although we will be telling those stories too). We want a truly diverse representation of the America today.

Roles have been taken from marginalized communities with blockbuster after blockbuster and show after show. Our series will reappropriate those roles and truly be for the people, by the people.

In addition to the actors, we want future episodes directed, written, and produced by representatives just as diverse as the cast.

To make these things happen, we need to create the project.

That's where you come in!

The script is complete, we have done all the pre-production work and casting, now we need to create. The funds we're seeking for this pilot will be used to pay for:

· Full production crew (to ensure SAG standards and insurance) 45%
· Actors 26%
· Locations 8%
· Housing 8%
· Wardrobe 7%
· Food 6%

We want to make this concept pilot competitive with all the best programming out there now. It's important that we create something that starts a conversation, feeds the cast and crew while giving talent and new perspective a chance. We're asking for legitimate funding to offer legitimate compensation to the actors and crew. We don't want to further disenfranchise people by paying below professional standards for their work. We want this pilot—no matter where it goes—to do right by all those involved.

On top of that Rain and Joe will not be taking payment unless the project funds over its goal. We believe in the story and our process so deeply that we have been and are working on this for no payment.

We know that with your help we can start a dialogue in this country through enjoyable and engaging content.

Thank you. Thank you for reading about our project and our ambition for the change we can see this bringing to society. We can't wait to show the world what we can do with our story.

No donation is too small, and please share the campaign with family and friends to get the word out.
