Indie jRPG engine Javascript Library

Who are you?
Let me introduce myself. I am Joel and I recently turned 30. I am a software developer by trade, and a gamer by heart. Mostly web based software and I have been developing softwares since I was 13 years old.

What is jRPGe?
jRPGe stands for Japanese Role Playing Game Engine.
jRPG Engine is developed for the sole reason to allow for quick development of old school Japanese role playing games using javascript and various other technologies. jRPGe is also being done as an open source MIT licensed project so that the fruits of this creation can be free for developers.

Where can I find more information and see what this is all about?
You can catch up and even view the prototype and development demo of jRPGe from its homepage. There will be regular updates and changes to the demo as time goes on.

That looks cool buy Why?
I am a gamer by heart and I love old scroll 8-bit and 16-bit games such as the Final Fantasy series, Chrono Trigger, Zelda, Secret of Mana and many many more. I love them so much that I wanted to create this library so more developers can pick up and go with it and focus more on creating a game versus creating software to create agame.

When do you think you will get this finished?
Thats a tough question as it is currently in the early stages of development. I want to get this done within about six months time but that is pushing it if I am doing this single handedly hence why I am starting this to not only pay for various things but also to be able to pay some others to help wth the project.

How does my contribution help and where does it go?
First bit goes to hiring other developers and designers, as well as apple and android devices for testing, then maintaining the servers and domains, and then finally the cost of advertising.

Why so much?
jRPGe is not a game but rather a tool to be used by developers so it needs to be very robust as well as easy to use and well documented. All of which takes a lot of time and effort.

Yes but where exactly is the funds going?
Designers/Developers: $1500
Devices: $1000
Assets: $750
Servers/Domains: $500
Advertising: $750
Flex Funds: $500

Whoa whoa whoa, Flex Funds? What is that?
Flex Funds is a padding that is used for extra cost that may happen over any of the other costs. Lets say I need 3 devices, an iPhone an iPad and an Android Tablet and that costs $1200 versus the budget $1000. That is where Flex Funds comes into play.

Okay now how do you plan to take all of this money and turn it into jRPGe?
jRPGe is currently under development and has been for a couple months now. It is already starting to come together and evolve into what I feel it should be. The money will be used to speed up development and allow for assets to be created and bundled with the software.

After Creating jRPGe then what?
After jRPGe is released publicly as a finished product the life cycle of jRPGe does not stop and will always be improved upon. However I will then use jRPGe to create various projects and demos for jRPGe as well as plenty of documentation for jRPGe so that it is easy to use.

How can I help?
There are many ways. Donating money or helping with the wishlist, sharing, or even contributing ideas or time as this is an open source MIT licensed project in both code or asset resources.
