Pizzas for Oklahoma Teachers

$6,110 of $5,000 goal

Raised by 278 people in 25 days

THANKS FOR YOU SUPPORT!! We delivered 200 pizzas to the steps of the capitol on Monday! Now, we are sending the remaining funds to pay for lunches and buses for the #OKwalk4kids on Thursday April 5!

Solidarity With Oklahoma Strikers!

Oklahoma teachers, staff, and state workers will be descending on their capitol on April 2, and possibly longer, to demand full funding for public schools and better pay for teachers, staff, and state workers. Teachers and supporters across the United States stand in solidarity with their courageous movement to defend public education.

To show our solidarity with their struggle, we are raising funds to send hundreds of pizzas to the protest on April 2 and longer if necessary. Please donate and share this link widely. Stay strong Oklahoma, we have your back! Solidarity Forever!

Thanks for your donations! FYI the daughter of the founder of Mazzio's, the pizza place we ordered the pizzas from sent us this:

"Hi, This is Lori Selby. I am the daughter of the founder of Mazzio's Pizza in Oklahoma. Thank you for ordering pizzas from us to feed the teachers in OKC. My dad was born to depression era parents. My grandmother's were educators and my dad was a chemistry teacher in the late 50's. He came from a very poor family who emphasized the importance of quality education. Dad worked a second job for $1 an hour to supplement his income as a teacher. In 1961, he opened his first restaurant but continues to teach for 4 more years. That meant teaching all day, opening his store at 5 and working until midnight, then paper grading. He worked his restaurant for 4 years alone. If he were still alive, he would be at the Capitol in support of education. Many years ago, he fought to make OK restaurants smoke free and was successful! He passed away in 2012 and now my siblings and I own the business. I'm not sure if you knew, but we are in our third week of giving away free meals to educators and support staff on Tuesday nights in our restaurants. As of this week, we have given away almost 7000 dinners. It was in his spirit that we decided to step up for teachers. I was thrilled to hear from Caleb that you had ordered from us! Thank you!"
