Thomas Williams Training Fund
I'm an international level ice dancer for Canada. With my previous partner we achieved international level competition, medaling at 4 different events and were also selected to represent Canada at multiple Junior World Championships and Four Continent Championship events. After five succesful seasons together, Nicole and I parted ways.
I'm excited to be moving forward in my new partnership with Sarah Arnold, who has also competed internationally in ice dance for Canada.
I'm currently raising money for training expenses for the 2016-2017 competitive season. My partner and I have goals of reaching the podium at the 2017 Canadian Figure Skating Championships. By reaching the podium at this event we will be able to move forward to our next goal of competing at the 2017 World Championships in Helsinki.
Training at the level of competition requires full-time commitment. For the past 5 years of training I have worked various jobs to fund my skating career. To remain competitive at this level, and reach my full potential, I need to be able to dedicate myself fully to all aspects of training.
I am asking for your support in helping me raise the needed funds. Here is a brief overview of the expenses that I have to cover for training this season.
What it will cost to get there...
-Coaching Costs $1,000/month
-Personal Training $210/month
-Living Expenses $1500/month
-Ice Fee's $4000/year
-Medical (physio, massage, recovery) $2000/season
Sarah and I will be training full time together in Vancouver as of March 2016. Although we have been training extensively from different locations, to work together and realize these goals we need to have enough funds in place to begin as of March.
I spent the past season at my home base of Calgary, AB where I have been working to raise money for this upcoming season while also working with therapists to recover fully from a previous injury, in addition to pursing alternative training to build new strengths. Now that I'm 100% my new partner and I are ready to start on our path to the 2017 National Championships.
I was an alternate for the 2014 Olympic Games and I know that my new partner and I can be on the podium for the 2018 Olympic Games. Making this goal come true will help me honor all those who have supported my skating career up till now. I have been blessed to be surrounded by incredible communities of people in my hometown and in my training cities. Without the generosity of these many people and the incredible sacrifices of my family, I would not have made it this far.
Your support will allow me to give back in so many ways as I carry this dream forward, for my hometown, all those in my training cities, for my family, and for my country.
