Fleet Week. May 25, 2016
Friends and volunteers of The BBQ Brethren are honored to host a Southern Style BBQ for Our US Navy Sailors, Marines and WW II veterans during Fleet week 2016.
On May 25, The USS Farragut (DDG 99), The USS Bainbridge (DDG 96) and USCGC Forward (WMEC 911) arrive at the Brooklyn Cruise Terminal. As they disembark, 1000 Sailors and Marines will be greated by members of our BBQ Family, and will join us in a private southen style BBQ to include, Pork Loin, Chicken, Ribs, Tri Tips, Pulled Pork and all the trimmings. This event is not open to the public.
BBQ Teams are coming in from as far as Alabama, Georgia and Illinois, as well as local NY/NJ/LI teams and judges. Paul Shirley from Shirley Fabrications will personally deliver a new pit designed specifically for this type of event and the worlds biggest Spicewine will be here.
We have worked tirelessly to secure as much of our supplies as possible. We have some beverages, side dishes, produce, paper and foil goods. But we are still in need of more supplies, including the proteins, additional beverages, deserts, etc. We have estimated meat costs alone to be over $3000.
The BBQ Brethren has baseline funded the account with $1,000-$1500. We are reaching out to our BBQ Family to help fill the monetary gap in purchasing food and supplies to make this day as special as possible for our sailors and veterans. All donations will be greatly appreciated and will be used to purchase food and supplies for this event.
