Shalena's Fight with Hodgkins

Donation protected
You never plan for being diagnosed with cancer at the young age of 24.  My sweet young sister-in-law just received the news that shattered her world.  Just a week before she was celebrating her acceptance to the Neonatal Nurse Practitioner program at University of Utah, a lifelong dream of hers to pay it forward and bless the lives of premature babies and their families.  Now those dreams have been placed on hold while we fight to take back her life from Hodgkin's Lymphoma Cancer.

From her Facebook post on 3/16/16:
March 15th, 2016. The worst day of my life. The words "You have cancer". I thought I would never hear this in my whole life and definitely not at my age. Well now it's reality. I was diagnosed yesterday with lymphoma. I went into the doctor because I had a lump on my neck that I noticed Monday night and by Tuesday morning it had doubled in size. I got a doctors appointment luckily that day and after an ultrasound of the lump it was determined. Two CT scans later we are waiting to see if it has spread throughout my body but hopefully we caught it early on. Hopefully soon I will be having surgery to remove the mass in my neck. I am in shock and I am scared beyond belief. Right now it's a waiting game to figure out what type and stage and then figure out a treatment plan. I am so lucky to have an amazing family and friends that care so much about me. This will be a rough time and a huge fight but I will make it out okay! I love you all!!

We are just trying to raise some money to help reach their medical deductible!  Any amount will help!!!!

Her first surgery this week to remove and biopsy one of the infected lymph nodes required a $2,500 payment prior to surgery which depleted their medical savings account.

Always remember to hold your family tight.  You never know when you will be in the fight of your life. You will win this fight Sissy!  Those preemie babies need you healthy and back in the NICU helping them to win their own fights!!!
