Send Alex to TIP

Our son Alex was born to tinker and to learn.  From the age of one, he would roam the house with bungee cords and laundry baskets, lashing them into a train which he would use to move toys from room to room. Now he is in the seventh grade, in public school in Raleigh, North Carolina. He is the lead tech for the Theater Club, and has also participated in Science Olympiad and Technology Club.  His school is 55% free and reduced lunch, and only has a half-time AG teacher serving the school, so enrichment programs are important for challenging him.  He took the ACT and scored well enough on it to qualify for the Duke TIP program, which will let him take an intensive, residential three week course called the Center for Summer Studies at Wake Forest or Davidson College.  His top study choices are math, cryptography and codebreaking, and DNA.  The courses are very expensive, we have applied for financial aid and the figure above is only a portion of the cost of the camp.  We'd love to have your help; he's a good kid and we think he'll go far.  To avoid fees, you can also paypal donations to my email address twinkarma   at  gmail  dot com .
