Tiny House San Diego

Donation protected
Upon seeing a video posted on youtube by Elvis Summers, founder of Tiny House Huge Purpose, Lisa Kogan became inspired. She saw the life changing gift Elvis provided Smokie, a 60 year old woman living on the streets of LA, and vowed to do the same for someone in San Diego!  In lieu of gifts for her birthday, Lisa asked friends and family for donations to build a tiny house in San Diego, and amazingly raised over $1000 towards her cause!  On December 12, 2015 the house was delivered to "Red", a homeless man living in San Diego.  Before receiving his home Red felt lost and without purpose. The home filled him with hope and new meaning, along with confidence to make a better mark on this world.  As cruel fate would have it, Red was arrested for encroachment and lodging without consent on December 15, 2015, and the house was impounded by SDPD. That has not deterred Lisa from her cause, if anything, it has propelled it forward!

“You cannot do a kindness too soon, for you never know how soon it will be too late.” ― Ralph Waldo Emerson

One of the most basic fundamental necessities in life is shelter. Well over a half a million women, children, veterans and families in this grand ol' US of A are homeless, and the numbers are growing daily.  It's becoming much more difficult to stereotype the homeless as just drug addict bums who "chose" to be there or " did it to themselves”.   Lisa once met a homeless man when she was a teenager, that told her he never thought he would be homeless. He was married, had a son, owned a home, and worked as a truck driver.  While on a trip, he received a call that his house had been burned to the ground with his family inside.  That tragedy forever changed his path, and he just gave up on the will to move forward.  Lisa always remembered the lesson she learned that day, and forever changed the perception she had of the homeless.

“Never look down on anybody unless you're helping them up.” ― Jesse Jackson

Being homeless is NOT a crime! The true crime is how we as human beings treat the less fortunate, many of which dream of the day in which they have a safe place to sleep, roof over their heads, and food for their families.  Tiny House San Diego is asking for donations to help build more tiny homes in San Diego, just like Red's, to provide better lives for our homeless friends.  Please open your heart and help someone who is truly in need.  You never know what a 4 x 8 structure can do for a person.

“It is the greatest of all mistakes to do nothing because you can only do little; do something.” ― Sydney Smith

Thank you for your kindness and generosity, you truly will be changing lives with just the click of a button. After all, everyone deserves shelter!
