No Fixed Address documentation fund
We began our career as teenagers in 1979 at the Centre for Aboriginal Studies in Music (CASM) in North Adelaide, We are the first Aboriginal band to perform on the mainstream music circuit and appear on national television and have our music aired on commercial radio.
We toured extensively throughout Australia and oversea's during the 1980s, we co-starring in a movie, and recorded albums. Our songs were about human rights, destruction of the environment and society societal change. Our music vehicle is reggae and our words reflect those of the Jamaican storytellers and poets as it relates to Aboriginal people, in response to oppression, social injustice and economic deprivations.
Our goals are to record the live performance and to document on film our induction into the 'Hall of Fame' .
The funds will be used to pay expenses in regard to further documentation of the bands performances and interviews for a documentary.
It was a milestone in our career one that we all value dearly. It presented us with the opportunity to meet up and perform together again. It also means that our family, friend's and fans have the opportunity too see the band perform again. The recording and footage of the performance is of great value to us, on a promotional and personal level. It is a record (visually and musically) of the band being inducted into the Hall of Fame, something that is a life long ambition. It is recognition and respect for our past achievement's from our peers in the SA music industry, and an acknowledgement of our hard work.
When you donate, the band will have your name placed on the album cover. As part of our reward program, when you donate $20 or over you will receive a choice of either a copy of our live album '1981', a DVD of our induction into the SA Music Hall of Fame, or a ticket to one of our concerts.
If you donate $50 you will recieve a copy of our live album and a copy of our induction into the AMC SA Music 'Hall of Fame'.
When you donate over $100 or over you will receive the full package.
DVDs were sent out to some people who provided their name and address through the post. We will be sending out more DVDs this week.
On the 30th September 2016 NFA appeared on NITV’s Marngrook Grand
Final Footy Show where they performed two original songs ’Sunrise ‘ and ‘From My Eyes' from their 1982 album ‘From My Eyes’.
From My Eyes
In November 2016 PBS 106.7fm obtained from their archives a performance of the band during their visit to Melbourne, where they performed at the Prince of Wales hotel in St Kilda. People can listen to or obtain a copy of the album ‘Live’ Vintage 1981 containing 6 unreleased original songs at:
The band will perform on January 26th in Melbourne before heading to Adelaide to perform at the Governor ’The Gov" Hindmarsh hotel in Adelaide, SA. The band has other gigs throughout the year and will hopefully get around to meet our all our family, friends, and fans.
They band needs your continued help to raise the funds needed to be able to obtain quality recordings and film of the band performing as well as interviews.
The amount of funding the band received so far minus fees was $3548.12. The funds covered the costs of airfares, travel expenses, per diems, filming, DVDs, postage, promotion, and recording.
We were able to produce 100 DVDs of the induction interview, and live performance, however, are unable, at this stage, to make Cds available.
No Fixed Address needs your continued help and support to raise the remaining funds needed, to be able to continue to document the reunion of the band members, on film and sound. As a reward for donating, people will receive a free copy of our live performance from The Gov, Hindmarsh, SA 28th Jan 2017.
The band however, needs funding to help pay for duplication of CD and DVDs for distribution to our support base. Without funding No Fixed Address will not be able to distribute copies of the live performance in the shortest possible time frame.
You can help make this happen by donating to the No Fixed Address documentation fund, and be rewarded for your support.
