Lil' Bears Fight after the Fight

THANK YOU for taking the time to read about my amazing and inspiring dog!! For those of you who don't know Lil' Bears background, Lil' Bear was rescued by the SPCA of Southwest Michigan from a dog fighting ring in Kalamazoo, MI. Lil' Bears charming and sweet personality led to his fate as a bait dog, the dog that is muzzled then attacked by the other "dogs in training" preventing injuries to these future "prize dogs". Miraculously, he made it out alive! Wagging his tail feriously during the rescue. Surgery was needed to treat the "hundreds" of fresh and old puncture wounds around his neck and ears, reattach his left ear that was partially torn off, as well as treat all of the callus' that resulted from the constant use of the muzzle. Unfortunately, he is still suffering from one of these injuries. During the healing process, his skin healed over his ear canal, closing up the ear canal hole from the outside. Unfortunately, he has develoved multiple ear infections that are trapped inside his ear canal. Without the capability of the infection being able to drain, it has built up and created a great amount of swelling on the left side of his face, creating an abcess from the pressure. He will be needing a TECA (Total Ear Canal Ablation) surgery to repair this, removing the ear canal and ear drum completely. All I want for this sweet boy is to be PAIN FREE!! He has endured so much in his life, and this is his last step.
The results of this surgery are "miraculous".

Unfortunately my savings account is small, as I am in my last year of school at Western Michigan University. $3,000 covers the cost of his medical expenses, however I am hoping to raise more that I can donate to the SPCA for giving Lil' Bear the gift of a 2nd chance at life! It was not a priority to rescue him from a business standpoint, but the amazing people at the SPCA could not let this dog die, and their hearts made him a priority. I am forever greatful for them as this dog has given me absolute joy!

His surgery is scheduled for Monday, November 16th at 10:30a.m. with the folks at Southwest Michigan Animal Emergency Hospital.

THANK YOU in advance for your donation and for all the love and support that Lil' Bear has gotten from southwest Michigan and beyond!! Stay in touch for updates on his surgery and recovery!!
