Help Heal Suzy's Leukemia

Donation protected
In 2018, our dear friend, sister and daughter Suzy Niederland was diagnosed with leukemia -- a diagnosis that put everything in her life on hold, including her graduate program at UNC where she was studying to become a school counselor.

Suzy has spent the last year in treatment, with her incredible parents at her side, taking turns being at the hospital with her.  Suzy received multiple rounds of chemotherapy, followed by an intensive procedure called a stem cell transplant, which was meant to cure her disease. After the stem cell transplant in April of 2019, Suzy's medical team at UNC told her that she was recovering remarkably well.  However, a few weeks ago, leukemia cells were found in her bone marrow, and Suzy has now been diagnosed with a full-blown relapse. Getting back into remission after a relapse, especially after having a stem cell transplant,  is a very difficult feat.

This is a dire situation in need of immediate medical attention. The long road Suzy was so hopeful was finally coming to an end has just grown longer.

In hopes of curing her leukemia, Suzy is about to embark on an intensive and incredibly expensive healing path that will require her to travel out of state, and to endure critical, yet aggressive forms of treatment.

If you know Suzy, you know that she is the most generous, thoughtful giver.  You know that even while battling cancer, she still always makes time for those she loves, and somehow still manages to put others before herself.  You know that her beautiful smile and positive, loving energy light up the room and everyone in it.

Now, it's our turn to light her up. To support Suzy during this challenging time in her life, please consider donating and/or share her gofundme page on your personal social media account.  Whatever money is donated will be used to help pay for Suzy's treatment, travel expenses, and living expenses (due to her medical condition and the uncertainty of the future ahead, she has not been allowed to work or go to school since last October, and her doctors have asked her to remain unemployed).

Together, we can do this.  Together, we can help heal Suzy’s leukemia.
