Alicia's Clinical Trial Fundraiser

$38,382 of $50,000 goal

Raised by 654 people in 65 months
Hi friends. As you may know, conventional chemotherapy has failed me and there are limited clinical trials available for which I am eligible. This means the only treatment options for me are currently in the U.S. This fundraiser is to help me cover the costs associated with the trial -- travel, accommodation, and miscellaneous medical expenses not covered by the drug companies. You can read more about my situation at my blog, http://alittlebitworse.wordpress.com. ***Note: If you prefer to donate directly, you can send an e-transfer to alicia.merchant@gmail.com and I will add it as an offline donation.

Hi folks! Just a quick update since there hasn't been one in awhile. I am at 72% of my fundraising goal and am leaving for Detroit on April 16 to start the trial on April 17. I did an interview with CTV about crowdfunding for medical costs, which should air tonight at 6 p.m. Huge thanks to everyone who has supported me so far -- I wouldn't be going to Detroit without you.

Alicia, any chance you are looking at clinical trials in Seattle through UW or Fred Hutch? If so, please know you have a place to stay if you'd like. I'm a metastasized cancer patient myself, and live just a few miles away from both places. Your writing on Alittlebitworse is honest, hilarious, beautiful and heartbreaking... Much love to you sister.

I have had a battle with Cancer also. it was colon cancer and then moved to my lungs. Right now I am cancer free. I refused chemotherapy after my first bout because of the side effects. If you care to contact me I can tell you about my experience. I take paw paw every day. It is a herbal remedy that helps the body attack multiple drug resistant cells(cancer cells). Also, there is a great natureopath in Kelowna that you should talk to.
