Candy was in a plane crash Jan 2nd in the American River while visiting Sacramento, CA. She was submerged for several minutes and is clinging to life surrounded by her family who flew in from Colorado, Northern and southern California, and Idaho. Family would like to stay by her side and this site will help provide the means to pay her medical expenses and keep her family with her while God works to heal her fragile body.

We set up a Facebook blog: Candace Marshall- Journey to Recovery. Please feel free to follow her recovery here.

I am heartbroken to write this post. Mom was fighting so hard- but her injury was just too much for her to overcome. She began having seizures late last night and seemed to be in pain. She had 9 broken ribs so every twitch was unbearable to watch. The nurses gave her seizure medicine and morphine and mom passed away in peace, at 1:41 this morning. She fought hard for us, but she is now with Jesus and in the arms of her father and her grandmother.

The neuro doctors said her injury was in the thalamus of her brain so she was probably never conscious from the moment of impact. We know she was knocked unconscious in the crash from her original CT- and this is why she could not free herself from the plane.

We have faith that God protected her from any pain or suffering. The thalamus controls the synapse between consciousness and all sensory impulses except smell. She never knew what happened. Last she saw was that beautiful river while they came in for the landing.

Mom was that special soul that you meet only once in a lifetime. She never held a grudge, she always smoothed out conflict, and she always saw the good in everyone. When you were with her, you could feel how special she was- and how special she felt you were also.

I cannot even imagine a life without her beautiful smile, her crazy sense of humor or her loving demeanor. She loved everyone, and everyone loved her. Her selflessness is something I hope to carry on in my actions everyday. I hope to honor her memory in everything I do.

Mom has had a few setbacks today. We were so hopeful with the tiny progress but tonight we are terrified. I want to let you all know we appreciate the donations. We no longer need to worry about where we will all stay this week. The hospital is trying to get us into the hospital house but there are so many families just like us here. I will get back to you each individually but please know we are so grateful.
