GIVE SO I CAN LIVE HEART-WORM FREE!

Hi I'm Sadie.  My story starts in a little town called Natchez, Mississippi.
This was me in November, 2015.  This was my whole world.  I was bound to a truck tire without any food or water besides what had collected within my reach when it rained.  I weighed about 25lbs and had sores on my bony hind from sitting in the same position for so long.
I was miserable until the day these 2 ladies happened to notice me tied up and all alone one day while driving around my neighborhood.
Upon seeing me and my situation, these regular people who broke out in to tears at the sight of me and were unable to speak, fed me, gave me water, and took me away from that horrible place.

This is my new mom, Jillian.

I did not know what it meant to be loved before that day, when she chose me. She says she didn't have a choice.

Not too long after she brought me home -- to my first real home -- she brought me in to this scary place where there were sick dogs.  They were barking so much. Everyone was really nice there and my mom was scared. She told me, "Everything is going to be okay girl, we just have to check to make sure you are healthy, okay?"  I was just happy to be away from that tire.

The doctor lady told my mom I have irreversable damage to my heart caused by heart-worms.  She was sad, but she told me everything would be okay.

In the advanced stages, this diagnosis comes with some pretty horrible symptoms.

Canine Heart-Worm Symptoms

I coughed uncontrollably, and I got really tired really easily.  This fatigue was not fun and sometimes I would cough-up blood too.

Thankfully, the nice doctor said she could help me to get better.  It would just take time and patience...
...and money.

She said I was lucky my mom found me when she did.  I already knew I was lucky.  What I didn't  know was how much money it would cost  :o(

The good news is I am well on my way to being able to play and excerise like a normal dog, like my new brother, Einstein.
I love him and he loves me too.Though, I'm not sure how "normal" he is.
Einstein told me that he was also chosen by our mom. Like me, he was left behind by his previous owners and she found him at the LASPCA shelter.  He's strong and healthy, and kinda silly sometimes.

As you can see, I am well fed and well taken care of now.  For this, I am forever grateful.

Here are some pictures of my wonderful, new loving family -- all of whom have contributed greatly to my recovery and made huge sacrifices that have made it possible for me to be here today to tell you my story. Thank you all so much.  I can't express the amount of gratitude and love I feel for all of you that have made a significant impact in this healing process.
Mom and Da Da  :o)

Thanks to my loving family, after about 5 months of strenuous house-training, a daily treatment of orally administered antibiotics, a well regimented diet, and careful handling in preparation for advanced treatment, I am weighing up to 44lbs and am much happier in my new home.

However, I am still very sick and everyday presents a new challenge.  Thanks to the persistence and patience of my family, I am finally healthy enough now for the next phase of my recovery which consists of a series of intravenous shots of a drug called IMMITICIDE that will help rid of the deadly worms.  I am really excited now because I know I will be very healthy really soon.

These treatments are expensive though:

The initial phase of the recovery process after rescue including vaccinations, a heart-worm test, the subsequential diagnosis, and antibiotics cost around $1,000.

The IMMITICIDE injections can cost upwards to $1,500 in some cases depending on the severity of the condition and based upon a number of variables such as the quantity and size of the worms and the weight of the host animal.  This can take two to three rounds of injections to completely rid of the worms.

I have been through the first round of shots and am currently receiving round 2.

Hopefully, after this second round of shots, the worms will be gone
and I will be able to run around and play with all the nice new dogs and people I have met in my new neighborhood and city and continue to live a full, healthy, and happy life; though it is not guaranteed.

Throughout this treatment, I have to refrain from any excercise or excess excitement as this can lead to fatal complications.

Common Cause of Death In Dogs With Heart-Worms

My family has poured alot of time and money into getting me healthy and have single-handedly funded the road to my recovery up to this point.  Although it has been a very rewarding experience, and one that they say they will never regret, it has taken a lot out of them.  The financial burden has proved to be quite overbearing.

They saved my life.

And this is why I need your help.  My family and I are asking for any donation you can spare.  Every little bit helps.

Every cent you help raise will go directly toward covering the cost of my recovery.   Without your help, I don't know that we will be able to afford the remaining costs of this extensive, life-saving treatment.

With your contributions made through gofundme.com you will literally be saving my life.  And for this, I will be forever grateful and in return, promise to continue to bring joy to everyone I meet.

Also, you have gained a friend for life and if you are ever in New Orleans, I would love to show you around sometime.

Thank you,

Sadie Girl
