Emergency oxygen masks for animals

We volunteer as a family, with our two sons ages 15 and 11, for Suncoast Animal League, aka SAL, a local 501(c)3 which helps thousands of hurt and homeless animals of all kinds every year. Together with SAL we are raising funds for the purchase of 125 emergency oxygen mask kits specifically made for animals. Police department, fire and rescue teams respond to thousands of calls every year. While they are equipped with oxygen masks for humans, most do not have masks specifically made for animals. In many emergency situations animals are left untreated to suffer with lifelong injuries and often die from untreated symptoms, many of these animals include the service dogs that respond to these emergency calls themselves. Oxygen masks for humans can only be used once but animal specific masks can be used over and over which means one $70 kit can save hundreds of lives. For just $8750 we can provide every emergency response vehicle in our three surrounding counties with animal specific oxygen mask kits. Any additional funds raised by this campaign or other fundraising efforts will be put towards the purchase of a shelter van. Currently all animals are transported by volunteers in their personal vehicles.  We believe every animal deserves a chance at a healthy, happy life and providing these animal specific emergency kits will give each animal in a crisis situation that opportunity.
