Michael Hofacker Medical Fund

On July 9, 2015, Michael had an MRI on some lumps in his groin area that were hurting him.  The doctor told him they found abnormalities in the lymph nodes and they were scheduling him for a CT the next day, Friday.  Michael received a call from his doctor around 7 pm that Friday evening, stating they found spots in his liver, kidneys, lungs, abdomen and they were sure it was cancer.
    So the following week he had a lumpectomy, visited an Oncologist, had an MRI of his brain, and a PET scan from the top of his head to his groin area. 
    On July 20, Michael was diagnosed with a rare, highly aggressive sarcoma called, Desmoplastic Small Round Cell Tumor (DSRCT), which is considered a children's cancer. On August 1, Michael was admitted into Mayo-Methodist Hospital in Rochester, MN for 3 of the 5 chemo drugs he will be given. 
    Michael said he doesn’t always respond to messages.  He enjoys the encourage words but doesn’t have the energy at this time to respond.  Please don’t take it personal.  This has been a struggle for him and I know how hard it is to put things in writing.  He truly appreciates everything everyone is doing and saying.

   " Michael is a good friend of mine. He is always willing to help anyone and everyone in need.  He always lightens the mood.  He is an amazing person! We don't understand how someone so good...non smoker... not a drinker... never drugs.... such a hard worker.... could get dealt such a crappy hand. He has only been married to the love of his life for just over a year.  I have faith that he will get through this and continue bringing laughs and joy to everyone around him."
