Meet Tom and Jerry. These guys are cuter and more entertaining than their cartoon names. These rambunctious, adorable, lovable little guys have had a rough time in life, even though you wouldn't know by looking at them.
Cats Cradle Ltd. rescued them when they were found abandoned at a car dealership at 2 weeks old. They were tiny and they were thought to be blind. The little guys had some belly trouble (constipation) that needed to be treated at the vet. Tom even needed IV fluids for a few days to help his little body. It seemed as though they might be blind but the vet determined that the boys did infact have vision. The kittens also looked as though they were missing eyelids but the vet diagnosed they were actually inverted instead. This is very painful since the eyelashes are abrading the eyes constantly. The vet did some plucking to ease some of the pain, while continuing them on their eye meds - an antibiotic and an eye lubricant. In the meantime, the boys have been taken to Animal Eye Care in Greenbrier for a consultation. The options for getting Tom and Jerry pain-free include removing the eyes (which is not being chosen since it's confirmed that they have sight) and cryoablation, which basically means they will need surgery to freeze the eyelid tissue off to prevent further painful irritation. Surgery for not one but two kittens is no doubt expensive.
That's where you can help! Please donate so we may help them live a full, comfortable life!
