Christmas For The Johnson’s

Hey my name is Deanna Smith and The Johnson family (Danny, Nicole, Kinlee, and Kace) was placed in my family’s life last Fall. Kinlee, who is now 8 yrs old, and her family’s life changed on November 3rd 2017. She was diagnosed with Stage 5 Medulloblastoma Brain Cancer. Kinlee had immediate surgery. I meet Danny, Kinlee’s father, on December 2, 2017. My oldest daughter Mac and couple other of her teammates were asked to play with Kinlee’s travel softball team in a tournament in honor of her to help raise money for the family while they focused on taking care of their child. The team was coached by Danny. Danny told me about his daughter and how awesome she was. I followed her updates on Facebook as she went through her journey. I watched how strong her faith and her family’s faith was in Christ. I watched a mother never leaving her child’s side. Nicole shared a post one day and it said ‘I always hear how strong I am. I’m not. I cry often. I want to give up often, but I am mom. I do what any mom does-I take care of my child’. I watched this little girl go to St. Jude’s and battled through chemo and radiation. I watched as this God loving, fierce, determined, and strong child fight and beat cancer. On June 22, 2018 Kinlee was told she was cancer free. Kinlee’s mother Nicole had to put her job on hold and focus on being their for her child. This past weekend we finally got to meet Kinlee face to face. I text her mom yesterday just to say I was so happy we got to meet her sweet baby. She informed me that her job had let her go. Her first words to me were ‘God has got this’. Her concern was being able to find a job before the holidays. I immediately told her that i wanted her to send me Kinlee and Kace’s Christmas list as soon as she got it. After thinking about it, I thought that it would better to raise money so Danny and Nicole could go and be able to buy the gifts themselves. Kinlee still has a long road to recovery. Kinlee still is having to go back and forth to St Jude’s for follow up tests. I feel if we could raise as much money possible to help not only for Christmas but with bills so Nicole and Danny continue to focus on Kinlee’s recovery. Any amount is appreciated!
