Blaine Hodge is a hero.
While at Starbucks for a business meeting on 9/9/2018, he witnessed what was to be a gruesome murder and threw himself between a woman and her machete-wielding attacker.
In doing so, he saved her life and suffered numerous wounds in the process, possibly losing use of his right hand.  He has a long road of recovery ahead of him, 6+ weeks, and now needs his own hero: you.

Please donate if you can, or share to raise awareness of this model man who ran towards the danger, risking it all to save a life.

These funds will be used to help Blaine maintain and better his quality of life while he is recovering. They will be used for anything from offsetting loss of income, new shoes, gas to travel to therapy appointments, to the occasional pizza. This man put everything on the line in an instinctual decision, willing to lose his life for a stranger in need. Thank you for being a part of his story.

Blaine here -

Let me start with this: the outpour of love and support from everyone has been absolutely overwhelming.

In a way, I feel as though it’s a dream, and I’m having a difficult time taking responsibility for my actions in the way that you are all describing. I only did what I would do, what I felt in my core that I am supposed to do, what was my responsibility. In turn, I am having difficulty accepting so much from you. This is why, after one week, my team and I have decided to disable further donations. I am good. I will be good. And I have faith in you. This money will be such a great help to me. I will be able to pay my rent for a few months, finally get a vehicle that I won’t be able to drive for a while, clear my debts, get a bed, put food in my mouth, and donate to the Jamison Center, where I spent too much time in my youth.

On that note, I need to turn the narrative to the big picture. Teach your boys to love and respect women, to take rejection as an opening door to the rest of their lives, to be comfortable in themselves and to hold the women in their lives as holy. This event, what happened to me and that woman in Starbucks last Sunday, this is what happens. This is the result of a man thinking he has the right to a woman’s life. This is the result of one person not taking the time to teach him what is right. Please, if you’d like to donate more: donate to a shelter, donate to the Jamison Center, donate your time and love to the young ones around you. Teach them. Love them. Thank you.

Blaine is home and in great hands. He can wiggle the tips of his fingers! He has months of rest and intensive therapy ahead of him, both for his hand and the trauma sustained. He only has the use of about half of his left hand due to the gash on it so he cannot reply very fast, but he has close friends and family at his side helping him reply and showing him all these loving comments and support.

He is still taken aback, it is all very surreal for him. He does not feel like he deserves this because he just did something he would normally do. That being said, he trusts you, has faith in your words, and is incredibly astounded and appreciative to have your support.
