Jed came into our care almost 6 months ago, his mother was hit by a car and killed, despite all odds being stacked against him he pulled through and became a healthy vibrant Joey. When we received Jed he was dehydrated, furless and stressed. My partner and I provided around the clock care by feeding him and toileting him every 2-3 hours starting with 10mls of milk per feed to the 80mls he drinks now. We were provided a lot of amazing support from various groups and Carers and have found him a home for when he is old enough to start becoming independent. Jed has developed extremely well and is fit and healthy, he is a complete “Mama’s boy” and enjoys social interaction with other Joeys and people, he absolutely loved the kids at my daughters school (because of the amount of human interaction Jed has had he will never be released straight to the wild, he will become a part of a soft release program). About 2 weeks ago we discovered clouding in his eyes and our worst fears were coming true, Jed had developed aggressive cataracts and was starting to go blind. After extensive research we found Rob a specialist vet with a lot of success in performing cataract surgery on Kangaroos, his reputation is incredible. After speaking with Rob about Jed’s condition he wanted to help immediately, he cut the surgery price in half pretty much waiving his cut to help Jed ( from $4500 down to $2200 ). My partner and I have tried vet loans to cover the cost but have been unsuccessful. WE REALLY NEED YOUR HELP PLEASE DONATE TO HELP JED RESTORE HIS SIGHT, ANY DONATION NO MATTER HOW SMALL WILL BE GREATLY APPRECIATED. Any left over funds will be donated to the groups that have helped us and are dedicated to native wildlife. Thank you.
