Hurricane Harvey Repair/Rebuild

$13,955 of $15,000 goal

Raised by 403 people in 5 months
My name is Lester Morrow, I'm the guy who you've probably heard in the Hurricane Harvey tearful reunion video (yes, how embarrassing) where I return home to find my place in ruins BUT discover that several of my short-legged animals somehow survived the 6 foot floodwaters that swallowed my home and property.

I initially asked for a much smaller donation from friends who had the resources, never asking for anything from those who were also suffering from this storm. My goal was just to help get my beloved pets back into their sanctuary which required repairs to fences, barns, and replacement of feeds and hay.  Once the video went viral  though, the outpouring of world-wide support exceeded my requested amount and still continues to grow.

My dilema is accepting more money than what I personally need for my property.  I know the want (and in some folks, a need) to help is still there and I will leave my fund page up to continue donations BUT I give my word that those in my community and the students in the school I work at (I have 17 students who were directly impacted from the floodwaters of Hurricane Harvey) will also see the benefits of your giving.   Just last night I pledged $1500 to replace all the round bales of hay my father lost during the flood and pay for the expensive wiring my brother needs for repairs on his home.  I've also offered to help pay for my nephews repairs on his home.  I won't stop there.

I want to say this and I mean it with every ounce of goodness inside me; if you are also struggling financially, then please DON'T give monetarily,  but I always welcome an email greeting or a follow on my and my animals facebook page or Youtube channel (Lester Morrow - Lestersplace)   You have no idea how inspiring and warm your well wishes and personal testimonies are.  I will always try to reply.

Lastly, I'd like to thank the WORLD for all your support.  I've seen the article in every language and on all sorts of news sources: tv, internet, newspaper.  I never imagined my experience would get the reactions that it has but since it did, and still continues to grow, I hope you will all see in it how similar we all really are.  Underneath our differing political views, languages, cultures, religious beliefs, etc.. we are humans. We love and care for others in need and for those who are suffering.  I always saw the United States as the one who plays humanitarian to the world but recently, I see that every people over every continent shares in that mission- I'm honored that you would choose me (and my animals, community) with your support.

I just wanted to say thank you all for donating to my cause. It has been a bit of a roller coaster ride here in Texas, in particular the Houston and surrounding areas but I'm happy to say that everything is starting to return to normal. Personally all of my animals are going great and I've already finished three rooms in my home. I'm about to start my bathroom next and it's going to be my biggest challenge yet! But I'm excited about the fact that I can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel as far as home repairs go and that gives me a peace of mind that I haven't felt in a long while. Thank you so much for helping out financially. I would of never been able to have gotten so much done in so little time if it weren't for very generous people and those who encourage me with words of affirmation. All of that has kept a fire of passion burning inside of me that keeps me going even when I'm tired. I've said this before and still see it more and more every day; I know so many people who have much less than I do, yet they lost so much more. My brother, for example, had to bulldoze his entire home into a giant hole and start completely from scratch- me on the other hand only have to rebuild my place and replace my belongings. I see so many blessings from this in the fact that so many of my animals survived even though (as you saw in the video) so many others did not. Anyway, I really appreciate you being generous and allowing me to receive your blessing. I will put it to great use and promise to pay it forward when I get back on my feet when I can be in a position to help somebody.

We are making great progress in repairs to my home and for the pastures our livestock graze. Paty (pig) is doing great, Meg (goat) now has a billygoat who she seems very happy and Ima Jean (donkey) is eating and moving around at will. Thank you for all of your support in getting my fur family reunited and getting me back into my home.
