Transgender Surgery Funds

My name is Shanna, I am 20 years old and ever since I can remember I have not been comfortable in my own body.

Until the age of about 5 I had thought that I was a boy. Everyone always said that I was just a Tom-Boy and that it is a phase which will soon pass. That was not the case.

At the age of 13 I started feeling really depressed and hated myself for being stuck in a female body.
As I grew older I became more aware of my situation and learned that I can do something about it. So that I can be trully happy about myself; I had read a news article about gender reassignment surgery and from that day on I new that that is what I needed to do to be myself.

I have been slowly saving for the past few years but life keeps getting in the way and bills needed to be paid and soon. I,  therefore, now have no money saved up and due to my depression I have not been stable enough to keep a job for longer than 6 months at a time.
I am finding it extremely hard to cope knowing that I am getting older and still no change has been made.
