My name is Sandy Modersitzki, a friend and neighbor of the Merrill family. The Merrills experienced every family's worst nightmare when they lost their 16 year old son, Cole, on July 7, 2018, when he tragically drowned in the Jordan River. Cole was doing what he was usually doing which was enjoying life to the fullest! Whether it was rappelling in American Fork Canyon, hiking Mt. Timpanogos, floating the Provo River or wake boarding and surfing at Lake Powell, Cole did it and he did it well. He was service-oriented, kind and his smile could light up a room before he even entered. Just Friday, he helped young kids navigate down the Provo River. When he hiked Timp last week, he brought bagels and hot chocolate for everyone to enjoy at the top. It is hard to put into words how loved Cole was by anyone lucky enough to interact with him. Our community's hearts our heavy with his loss and for our dear friends Carla, Sam, Sammy, Jaden and Riley Merrill. We decided to set up this Go Fund Me so that the many offers of help to the Merrill family could easily be accepted. The funds will go to the family to help cover funeral expenses for Cole.
