Sister Solidarity

This effort is in of my dear sister-friend Michele. She desperately needs some financial assistance. As she approached retirement age she, unanticipatedly, faced divorce. It took a couple years, with no minor children involved, to come to resolution as her spouse used multiple legal maneuvers to delay it. Now four years later he just whittled her support to below poverty level (with the help of a clearly unethical judge), even deducting half of the pittance of social security she has just become eligible to claim. My friend hadn’t worked full-time throughout the close to 20-year marriage and he never complained about it. He even bought her a substantial life insurance policy in case something were to happen to him because he wasn’t sure she would be able to make enough to support herself. (Which he tried to revoke recently, though, now it is more critical than ever.) She is still being treated for depression and some other chronic health issues that existed during the marriage. She was required by the judge to take in roommates which were difficult to find and inconsistent at best. That led to further depression thus less ability to find employment. At her age, with her background, it wasn’t going to be enough to fill the gap anyway. There’s a whole lot more to the long story, but I’ll cut to the chase scene. Her current landlord has decided to move back into the house that she has been renting since the saga began. Now she has to move. Obviously, she was no savings and no other resources with which to pay for a move leaving the only option to sell everything she has leaving her with absolutely nothing after this horrific experience.
