In Loving Memory of Gunars Vasiluk

We are raising money to help Gunars's wife, Maria by lessening the financial burdens which are surrounding her at this very tough period she’s going through.

Dear friends,

It is with great sadness that I announce the loss of my dear friend and brother in Christ, Gunars Vasiluk.

For those of you who did not know him, he was born in Latvia and had chosen to come to England in the summer of 2011 for better opportunities in life.
On leaving, his estranged father made contact with him telling him about Jesus, the Bible and most notably Seventh-day Adventism. This had stayed in his thoughts and so when he finally arrived in England, he made a conscious effort to start attending church,
Peterborough River Lane Church (one I was attending at the time).

A really lovely guy, he made effort to fit right in and over the course of the year we started studying the Bible together with our friends, seeking out truth.

We were both eventually baptised on the same day and jointly concluded on many occasions that it was the best decision we have ever made.

Fast forward in time and our aforementioned friends all moved in and around Birmingham and Leeds. Gunars also felt it was his time to go and he himself moved to Glasgow in January 2013.

Around February 2013, he excitedly contacted me to tell me he was extremely happy as he'd met a God-loving woman named Maria.

They married in June 2014.

I was heartbroken and shocked to hear that at around January 2015 the doctors had found cancer in his brain. Subsequently he suffered a stroke, resulting in partial paralysis on one side of his body. His arm and eye were affected quite badly. He had to have surgery to remove the tumour in spring 2015 .

What followed over the next 4 years was a brave young man fighting poor health with the use of prayer, the Bible and diet, to try and keep this horrible illness at bay. And for a long time his sacrifices along with God’s mercy had brought him much success.

During this time, not wanting to let his free time be consumed with with this awful thing, he decided to get involved in charity work, something which he received local press coverage for in November 2018.

We spoke often and even though he was suffering,  service to other people (through his job) and his continued dedication of his life to God, brought him great joy. Something that has inspired many when you consider what he was going through.

Sadly, the brain tumours started to get the better of him. I saw a very young man who had his whole life ahead of him become weaker, leading to a second surgery in August 2019.

Unfortunately, Gunars’s health deteriorated quickly and I was absolutely heartbroken when his wife contacted me to say he had  died on the 22nd of August 2019.

He was just 26 years old.

His dear wife, Maria needs our support at this time due to the loss of her precious husband Gunars.

If you can give even just a small amount to help her then please do so.
Also  please share this with as many friends as possible and pray for her comfort during this sad time.

James 1:27 says "Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world".

May Gunars’s short life and how he dedicated it to serving God and helping others be an inspiration to you all.

God bless,
Bav
