5k a day for 40 days

With mental health awareness continuing to rise and now being more acceptable than ever to help people talk about their mental health,
I've been thinking about ways to improve my mind as well as my overall wellbeing. As someone who's less inclined to spend every waking hour full of energy, instead, I am more likely to pursue my passion for relaxing and enjoying lie-ins. My zen laid back approach to life has helped me achieve what I have so far however when it comes to setting targets out of my comfort zone and achieving them it can be a hindrance.

So for lent, although I’m not religious I have always liked the ‘sacrifice’ aspect and each year I have always opted to give up my other passion in life... eating my favourite food. However, this year got me thinking, what can I do to push myself out of my comfort zone and improve my mental health and well being... and therefore I have decided to run 5km a day for 40 days.

I am well aware that 5k for a good majority of you is not that far, but for me and a lot of people out there where running is not something they have ever enjoyed, it is a marathon!

After explaining this to my mum, the idea of doing this for charity came about and I am now seeing if anyone would like to donate whatever they can to support a charity close to my heart.

Norton Housing & Support provides accommodation to adults with mental health needs and/or learning disabilities in Leicester and Leicestershire through a shared home setting.
