Eric Hagan Battles The Cancer Hill

Donation protected
We all have at least one story if not dozens to share about Eric Hagan. Mine was in 2006 on trail 1 on the Tennessee side of Tellico during what our club had called the MLK memorial ride. I first met this red head ball of fire from the swap south in the dead of winter in a snow storm when he asked for a ride to his truck and I gladly gave him a seat in my FJ40. From that moment onward we have been best friend. Through all his hurdles life has throw his way Eric has always persevered all the while keeping us laughing. He has always been and will continue to be the life of everyone’s party. But now it’s time for us to help him. Eric has battled various medical issues throughout his life: pituitary tumor removed the size of a lemon, bacterial meningitis, toxoplasmosis in his left eye, leaking cerebrospinal fluid (CSF), VP shunt inserted to relieve pressure of the CSF, a rare form of mold infected his CSF afterwards that makes him the only person in the SouthEast US to ever survive that type of infection. He was also hit by a car doing 30mph when he was seven years old!So when he discovered recently that he had throat cancer, while he is no stranger to fighting off illnesses, it was most certainly a “NOT AGAIN?!” moment. And while no one deserves this diagnosis, he will absolutely embrace this battle and meet it head on.
Eric still has his tonsil’s and the malignant tumor is on his left tonsil measuring 2cm, so on May 25th he will undergo a tonsilectomy and a muscle margin around the left tonsil removed, as well as three lymph nodes out of the side of his neck. He will leave the hospital with a feeding tube for a week. He will not be capable of swallowing for a few days. Once healed from surgery, he will undergo radiation treatments on the throat to ensure the cancer has not spread. Chemotherapy is an option that will be weighed at that time. Likely he will have to undergo it as well. Eric will be out of work for an undetermined amount of time. So we need to help this man who has always brought our spirts high. If you can please donate what you can to help Eric pay the mounting bills that have already started to build. All the money will go to Eric and help get him through and if it’s more than needed I’m sure there is a charity he would like to donate it to.
