Zachs Medical Fund
Zach was in a motorcycle accident on May 6th. He was on his way home on Rebecca Lake Road when he hit a guardrail. He was flung from his bike about 50 feet and has many injuries including- broken pelvis, two broken legs, a collapsed lung, fractured face, broken eye socket, along with internal bleeding and a bleed outside his skull. I’m making this GoFund me in hopes to help make sure he is on the right path to recovery and to spread the word. If you can donate, we would greatly appreciate that, but if not, please just provide prayers and good vibes. We love him and have high hopes he will pull through this.I will keep you posted as the days go on. He is currently in the ICU now and hooked up to a respirator. Thank you and please keep him in your prayers.+ Read More
Zach finally got to come home yesterday. We are adjusting to having him be home and comfortable. He still isn’t able to eat solid foods and won’t be able to for weeks, but we have lots of smoothies, soups and protein shakes ready! He is still in a wheelchair and will be for a while. They aren’t sure how long specifically it’ll be before he can start walking, but he has a follow up appointment next week to determine when he can start putting weight on his legs. He is off all pain medication and antsy to get out and go fishing lol. Proud of you Zach! Keep your head high and you’ll recover in no time
Zach is doing SO well that he got moved to rehab already. He is going to start doing physical therapy for his legs, brain and speech. All the doctors and nurses are so impressed with his progress and hope to have him back home in 2-3 weeks (or at least give us an accurate time frame then)! He is pulling along great, but has a long road of recovery. He will be in casts for a while, but he’s able to get into his wheelchair and go outside for fresh air. I can’t believe the progress he’s making and just can’t wait for him to come home
Another big day for Zach! He finally moved down from the ICU and is in a lower level/less intense room. Which means he doesn’t need as much attention/care. He is still super irritated and keeps asking to go home, but he knows all of our names and is still the witty, stubborn guy we all know and love. He was still polite enough to call me off the hospital phone when I left tonight around 11:30 to make sure I made it safe to my car. He will be hanging out for a while longer, but his speech has improved tremendously today and we were able to calm him enough to get a little bit of sleep. I just want to thank everyone this far and just say I’m SO relieved to be able to talk and laugh with him again. We love you Zach
These past couple days we have been letting Zach relax and get some rest/time alone. The doctors main focus now is to let him rest so his brain swelling doesn’t get worse. They are focusing on his blood pressure along with pulse. We just ask that you all wait to come visit/visit in small groups until he’s awake. This part in his recovery is very important so he doesn’t get agitated. He is coming along great though! His facial surgery is almost done and the rod was successfully put into his left leg. He still has a few more surgery’s on his foot and face/teeth, but other than that he’s improving every day! So keep the prayers coming. We love you Zach.
