Gbg Fire Dept Co. 8 Bell Tower Fund

Greensburg Fire Department Company #8 is in the process of restoring and preserving the historic bell tower at our firehouse.  For over 40 years the bell signaled volunteer firefighters of alarms in the Greensburg community.  The system that rings the bell is quite unique and extremely rare and called a Gamewell Bell Ringing Machine.  The bell ringing machine operates like a precision clock with weights and chains that provide the power to makes the bell operate.  The machine was manufactured by the Gamewell Company somewhere around 1880.  It is speculated that only around 6 bell ringing machines remain in firehouse bell towers nationwide.  For this reason we are trying to preserve the historic tower, bell ringing machine and bell.  We estimate this effort will cost $70,000.00 and began construction in the September of 2015.   Our efforts have raised half the needed funds but to finish the effort we need help.  Your contribution would help us preserve this piece of history.
