A month ago life was going fairly well.
Our little family was in decent shape. We had a good home that was as stable as could be (or so we thought), two great dogs who are like our children, and after over a year of trying, a baby on the way. The life that we had been striving toward for years seemed to be finally within our grasp on the horizon. Our small, from home medicinal business was starting to flourish, and both of us had just started to work from home. Life, through our hard work, sweat, tears and determination, was about to be good....
It's amazing how much can change in a week.
Our big, sweet giant dog got sick, he was only three years old but he deteriorated so quickly he looked at least eight. While he did start to get better with treatment, he soon began to look worse and worse, and then died in our arms from a blood clot.
A few days later we got into an argument with the people we rented our home from. It ended with them saying we could leave. Our gardens, our plants, our mushrooms, and everything that we based our business from were gone with the house. All of our stockpiled products were gone. We had invested everything into the business and the property and had nothing set aside to deal with this.
Less then 50 miles into our trip moving away from there, loaded with our most important possessions and keepsakes, our car broke down, with an irreparable transmission.
We are lucky enough to be staying with family, though it is a very temporary situation. Our goal is to get an RV so that we can get our feet back under us. Traveling and living in an RV gives us the stability of a home and the flexability of being able to continue doing what we love, working on sustainable farms, foraging for natural medicinals and edibles and traveling to new places, meeting new people and learning new ways.
We are hoping to raise enough money to buy an RV that is in decent shape, change over the title and registration, and insure it for a year. We are also raising money to pay for a midwife to provide prenatal care and to ensure that we have a safe, natural birth. Any extra money that we raise will go to buying fuel, food and dog food to keep us moving forward.
