Ithaca teacher racing toward dream

Donation protected

Over the summer of 2015, Bill Sauve of Tully, NY, lived out a longtime dream of getting behind the wheel of a dirt modified car at Rolling Wheels. He documented his Kenny Wallace Dirt Driving Experience as a contributor for CNY based Apex Automotive Magazine (read it here ). For those that don’t know, this program travels to tracks all over the country and for a fee, anyone can try their hand at running dirt oval late models, sprint cars, and recently added big block modifieds. The thrill of this experience hooked Bill so hard that he went out and bought his own race car!

I’ve known Bill for many years, as a fellow R/C racer, car enthusiast and race fan. It is great to see him take the plunge as so many others have from model racing to the real thing - It is not an easy thing to do. He is a Teacher at Ithaca High School, where he teaches Technology and Engineering Education courses and is an inspiration to students and friends as he pursues his dream to become a dirt racer on the weekends. He would like to share his experiences at the track with his students and to inspire them to chase goals and dreams that may seem unattainable.

So the reason for a GoFundMe campaign is not to buy a car (the biggest expense is already purchased), but to support the costs of a racing effort for an entire season. As you know, racing is expensive, and for someone just starting out with minimal tools, no spare parts, and only the basics of a real race team - the list of stuff needed to support such an endeavor is quite daunting.

Funds raised would go towards the following:

Pit passes for the crew
Fuel
Tires

Specialty tools/Equipment :
Generator
Tire Prep Tools
Welder

Spare parts:
Gears
Hubs
Shocks
Steering Components
Aluminum Wheels
GM 602 Crate Motor

Routine Maintenance Costs:
Oil Changes
Gear Oil
Valve Springs

Bill has already picked up a few sponsors to help alleviate some of the costs and getting his car in proper shape for its first race, but there is still quite a need for support. His sponsors currently include Eco Electrical Contractors, Veteran Construction, C&B Auto, as well as Apex Automotive Magazine, and AtomicWraps.com (who is supplying a full vinyl wrap with an exciting theme and colorful graphics).

Please help Bill continue to live out his dream of starting a racing career and be one of the first to support and get him going. If you can’t make a donation, consider coming out to Fulton Speedway and cheering him on in the stands - it would mean the world to him.

As a member of the publishing group that produces Apex Automotive Magazine, I am personally helping to support Bill by offering our logo’d decals and apparel as awards for various donation levels. I would like nothing more but to see my friend and fellow car enthusiast succeed this year and appreciate any help we can give him.

Here are some shots of the progress, followed by a quick mockup of what the final car should look like. New sheet metal panels are already on order and the crew is working tirelessly to have the car ready for the spring.
